Central Ohio Gay Coalition

Central Ohio Gay Coalition, with one week of notice coordinated a most successful

demonstration against an appearance of Anita Bryant on November 27, at an Ohio Farm Bureau Convention. Over 150 people demonstrated that evening, representing at least 15 organizations from around the state of Ohio. Along planning meeting was held November 20 after only a one day advance notice, attended by representatives of most of Central Ohio's Gay organizations. After several opinions were expressed in

opposition to any demonstrations at all, the majority were in favor of showing Anita that, "We're still here-we won't go away". Plans were then drawn up for communications with many groups, both Gay and non Gay, and for marshalls, who would be in charge of keeping the crowd under control. Legal experts were consulted about permits, obstructing sidewalks, contacting law enforcement people, and so on.

Operating with a small active membership at this point, Central Ohio Gay Coalition needs news energy from new

people. People who are

interested in being seriously political are being sought. Meetings are held first and third Mondays of each month. For times and locations, call C.O.G.C. at 614-291-9114.
